SCSEP Tablet

Build Your Employability and Digital Literacy

The purpose of this program is to enhance the digital literacy of eligible SCSEP participants, thus increasing their employability. Each participant will be provided with a Lenovo Tab K11 SADC 11” Tablet, along with a flip cover and a Targus wireless keyboard. Through this initiative, trainees will improve their overall digital literacy, improve their typing speed, Microsoft Office via GCF, Indeed job search, and more.

Participants are expected to secure employment within six months of beginning the tablet program. Upon achieving employment, they may retain the tablet to support their continued skill development and success in their new role. Should participants not achieve employment within six months, they will be considered for transition to an in-person assignment with a suitable host agency to further develop their skills and employability in following with the IEP. The tablet must be returned once they are transferred to an in-person assignment.

Accountability:

Each week participants will be required to send an email summary of their weekly activities to the designated SCSEP representative. Failure to provide the accountability report can result in program termination.

Duration:

Participants are expected to secure employment within six months of beginning the tablet program.

Timecard Compliance Guidelines

You must comply with the timecard guidelines including:

• Train up to 29 hours per week; 58 hours per pay period
• If you train more than 5 hours in one day, you must take a 30-minute lunch break off the clock
• You cannot train more than 8 hours in one day
• Allowable training days are Monday through Friday
• The allowable training hours are 8 AM to 5 PM
• You cannot train while Legacy Link is observing a holiday
• Participants may NEVER volunteer their time at the host agency. All time spent at the host agency, except breaks, must be on-the-clock paid training. The U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act prohibits volunteering extra time without pay.

What is SCSEP?

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a federally funded employment training program for limited-income seniors, aged 55 or older, who wish to re-enter the workforce. The SCSEP program helps limited-income seniors refresh their job skills through a paid training assignment at a local non-profit or government agency. The goal of the SCSEP program is gainful employment for mature workers.

How does the SCSEP work?

Once accepted into the program, participants will:

• Have a training assignment with a non-profit or government agency
• Receive paid job-training for an average of 20 hours per week
• Refresh existing job skills and learn new ones
• Have access to a personal job coach (Participant Specialist)
