Assistive Technology (AT) is an item or a piece of equipment that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of life, including school, at work, at home and in the community.
Assistive technology ranges on a continuum from low tech (walkers and bath benches) to high tech (using your smart phone to turn on and off your lights).
Assistive technology also incorporates Durable Medical Equipment (DME), which we may be able to provide through our partnership with Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC). DME is medical supplies that can help improve quality of life at home. Some examples include: shower chairs, walkers, and hospital beds.
